Mississippi's only gravel race

The courses

100-mile riders will cross through three counties (Perry, Greene and Forrest) while passing through the Leaf River Wildlife Management Area, De Soto National Forest and Camp Shelby Joint Forces Training Area. All courses will get to experience portions of the Camp Shelby Joint Forces Training Area, and it is not uncommon to see National Guard units exercising in the many open areas along the course. You'll also get to experience a wide array of wildlife. It's not uncommon to see deer, turkeys, wild hogs, and a variety of snakes (including our namesake Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake). And don't let our Southern latitude fool you, the 100-mile course packs approximately 4,500' of climbing while the 100K course comes in at approximately 2,800' of elevation gain.

the Rattlesnake Rumble

Rattlesnake Rumble, the only gravel race in Mississippi, will be held on April 11th, 2026. Get ready for some of the best gravel roads in the Southeast! The De Soto National Forest has long been known for its vast road network and challenging Ragland Hills on the North side of the region. Riders will have the chance to take on courses ranging in length from 15 miles all the way to a full 100 miles. There is very little pavement on the course and the gravel ranges from hard-packed and fast to chunky and loose rock.

Start/Finish Location: The intersection of Highway 29 & FS 312 just South of New Augusta is the location of the Start/Finish area for this year's race. There is ample parking, and overnight dispersed camping is permitted in the Desoto National Forest. While we have enjoyed the creature comforts of the Armed Forces Museum, we want to get back to the roots of gravel racing.

Start/Finish: F S 312, New Augusta, MS  39462
